In today’s world nothing happens for free, and the Long Beach Community Band is no exception. There are many costs associated with running a large ensemble, volunteer or not. We must employ a Music Director; purchase, store, and maintain our music library, sound system, and large percussion instruments; and maintain, transport, and provide storage for our 32-foot portable stage, “The Showmobile.” In addition, we must carry insurance against accidents, maintain our membership in the Association of Concert Bands, and pay an annual BMI/ASCAP fee so we can legally perform the music in our library.
To meet our financial obligations we rely on our members as well as sponsors, grants, and partnerships. We gladly accept donations of any amount to help us to continue bringing music free of admission to the greater Long Beach community. The Long Beach Community Band is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, so your gifts are tax-deductable. Do you enjoy working with others? Would you like to participate but aren't an LBCB musician? During our concerts we often need people to help with ushering, handing out programs, the snack table, or setting up the stage. In the summer months we are always grateful to anyone offering to "pass the hat" for donations during our park concerts. Helping us set up and take down the Showmobile stage, or helping us transport the racks of chairs stored in the nearby park buildings is another way to help.
